Dress Code

Wangenheim student dress code

The dress code is in effect any time students are on campus 24 hours a day, including after-school and evening events. All clothing and footwear are to be safe and academically appropriate for a school setting.

  • Baseball caps, hats, and beanies can be worn outside. No inappropriate logos as per the regular dress code.
  • Students must wear at least one shirt (not including jackets or sweaters) with shoulder straps that cover undergarments.
  • All skirts and shorts must be appropriate for school.
  • Students may not wear tube or halter tops, off-the-shoulder, backless, see-through or lace, midriff, crop or cut-out shirts, including "muscle” undershirts, unless they are accompanied by an appropriate over or under shirt.
  • Items that denote gang affiliation, crime, profanity, weapons, are sexually suggestive, alcoholic, or illegal substances are not allowed. 
  • Shoes must be safe for school. (No flip-flops, sandals, high heels, platforms, slippers, open toes, etc.)
  • Spikes, chains, or safety pins are not allowed. (No spiked jewelry, shirts, shoes, or earrings.)
  • No pajamas (ASB Spirit Days excepted)  

Students who dress inappropriately will be asked to change or be sent home. Inappropriate clothing/items will be confiscated. If item is not picked up within one week by a parent or student with parent signature, it will be donated to charity.

Consequences:

  1. Students will be sent to the office to change into loaner clothes. Inappropriate garments will be confiscated and will be returned when student returns signed dress code contract and washed loaner clothes. Items left over one week will be donated to charity.
  1. Lunch detention; same procedure as above but garment must be picked up by parent.
  1. After school detention; same procedure as above.
  1. Additional offenses: Number of days of detention will increase by one with each offense assigned; same procedure as above.
