Shadow a Student Day, May 26        

Great News! Mark your calendars for the return of Shadow a Student Day! On Thursday, May 26th all parents/guardians are welcome to come to school with their students and attend all their classes!

With the easing of COVID restrictions many schools have hosted or are planning to host a Spring Open House. We know many of you want to feel more connected to the school and your student’s teachers. Spring Open House has not been a part of our tradition, but Shadow a Student day has. We are excited to welcome parents/guardians onto campus for that day. The minimum day on Thursday, May 26th was selected as the day for Shadow a Student day after discussion with our SGT and our Area Superintendent.

For most of you, this will be a new experience. Much of the day will run as it did pre-COVID:
*The bell schedule is a standard 6 period minimum day with no Advisory and lunch afterwards.
*Parent/Guardians will have the opportunity to complete a blue slip when they arrive to campus if they want to leave after 6th period.
*Parent/Guardians will have free coffee available to them in the morning.
*Please no use of cell phones in class. If you need to text or take a call, please step outside to not disrupt the lesson.
*Siblings and family under the age of 18 cannot attend. We do not have child care available and want this experience to be meaningful for our students and their parent/guardian.

You will have the opportunity to experience lessons that are fun and engaging for both students and yourself (especially since we will have just finished testing!).

We will also follow all the current COIVD precautions:
*Masks will be highly encouraged and available for any who needs/wants one.
*Social distancing will be practiced, when possible.
*Parents/Guardians will be asked to sign in during each period (for contact tracing purpose and to record the number of participants).
*Families and their students with COIVD symptoms need to stay home.
*Anyone on campus with COIVD symptoms will need to go to the nurse’s office.
*Voluntary COVID testing will still occur (Thursday is our usual day), but is limited to students and staff only.

The following message was sent to families and staff (March 5, 2022):

COVID AT-HOME TESTING KITS FOR SPRING BREAK

All students and staff are being provided at-home COVID testing kits to self-test before returning to campus after spring break. Parents may pick up test from the office beginning Tuesday, March 22. Tests will be distributed during advisory on Wednesday, March 23. Testing and uploading results of the test is not mandatory for returning to campus, but is strongly encouraged.

COVID TESTING:  All students are encouraged to participate free in regular, on-site COVID-19 testing. Even if students are fully vaccinated, we still recommend weekly testing.  Free Covid testing in school not only helps prevent the spread of the virus, but it also helps more students stay in school and continue their education. 

Thursday from 12:00-3:00 is Wangenheim's testing day. There is no flexibility in the testing schedule.  Students requesting COVID testing on minimum days must remain after the 12:18 dismissal bell.

Opt-In to Regular, On-site Testing: If you have not already opted-in for your student(s), please follow these steps for regular, on-site testing.

1. Complete the opt-in process to allow the testers to conduct weekly testing.
2. Register and consent in the Primary.Health Portal in order to be tested.
