People entering Wangenheim Schools

Wangenheim has a large, attractively landscaped, 35-acre campus that is clean and free of graffiti. We take great pride in maintaining a safe learning environment for our students. All buildings and equipment are in excellent condition. Classrooms include six air-conditioned buildings built in 1978 and nine non-air-conditioned bungalows. Three of these bungalows are now being used as district offices. We built 24 new classrooms in 1996, and the rest of the school was refurbished at the same time. Our school received upgrades thanks to Proposition MM. These improvements included repainting and re-carpeting of several of our older buildings and improved access for the physically disabled. In addition, we gained six state-of-the-art science labs, a culinary classroom, and one new multi-use classroom. Within the last few years we have been making small upgrades using our discretionary Proposition S/Z money and are awaiting our whole site modernization from Proposition YY.

Wangenheim has many special facilities: a wood shop, a metal shop, a video broadcasting studio, an auditorium with tiered seating, a fitness room, and an activity room/gymnasium. We also have a spacious athletic field, as well as basketball and racquetball courts. Our media center contains a wealth of resources, as well as two computer labs featuring an excellent array of software. In addition, all of our classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Promethean interactive whiteboards, document cameras, and video projectors. All students are issued a laptop computer to support their digital literacy and to engage in their schoolwork whether on campus or at home.
