Wangenheim Cell Phone Policy
Wangenheim is not responsible for phones that are lost or stolen.
During school 7:30-2:25:
- Cell phones and ear buds/headphonesmust be out of sight and turned-off in common areas. This is not limited to but includes the lunch court, passing period, in the library and restrooms.
- Cell phones and ear buds/headphoneswhich are turned on and/or in view should only be usedwhen instructed by a teacher for educational purposes in which to enhance the lesson, research a topic, take pictures of homework or what the teacher deems appropriate for their class.
- Students who are texting, photographing, video-recording, gaming, or listening to music not in regards to educational purposeswithout the permission from a staff member or teacher during school, will have their cell phones and ear buds/headphones confiscated. Student will be assigned detention. ***
- Students may only use theircell phones and ear buds/headphones during the school day to call or text a parent or guardian with permission from a staff member.
Before and After School:
- Students may use their cell phones for calling and texting onlybefore the first bell or after the last bell of the day.
- No photographing, video recording of staff and or students is acceptable.
- Cell phones and ear buds/headphonesused for video, gaming, or camera… will be confiscated. Student will be assigned detention. ***
Consequences: *** denotes the next level of consequences
First Offense: 1) Phone and/or ear buds/headphones confiscated, returned at the end of the day; 2) contract completed.
Second Offense: #1 and 2 above with lunch detention.
Third Offense: #1 and 2 above with after school detention
Fourth Offense: #1 and 2 above and student must check phone in the office every morning.
